Project Overview

Rukmani College of Education offers the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme, a professional teacher training course designed to prepare competent and value-based educators for secondary and higher secondary levels of education. The programme is structured in accordance with the regulations and curriculum framework prescribed by Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The B.Ed. programme integrates theoretical foundations of education with practical pedagogical training to ensure comprehensive professional development. It equips students with subject expertise, classroom management skills, teaching methodologies, assessment techniques and research orientation necessary for effective teaching practice.

Duration (2 Years – 4 Semesters)

  • The B.Ed. Programme is of two academic years duration, comprising four semesters. Each academic year consists of 200 working days, excluding examination and admission periods, as per university norms.
  • The programme includes core theory papers, pedagogy subjects, practical components, teaching practice, internship training and community-based activities. The semester system ensures systematic evaluation, continuous internal assessment and structured academic progression.

Intake Capacity (100 Students)

  • The institution has an approved annual intake capacity of 100 students as sanctioned by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Admissions are carried out strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University from time to time.

Medium of Instruction

  • The medium of instruction for the B.Ed. Programme is Tamil or English, depending upon availability and subject combination as permitted by the institution and university regulations.
  • The college ensures that students receive adequate academic support to enhance communication skills and pedagogical effectiveness, irrespective of the medium chosen.
